Hello and welcome! My name is Kate and I am a fully trained newborn baby and family photographer based in Caerphilly, South Wales. I am so excited that you are considering me to be your newborn photographer of those first few days of your new baby. It is such a special time filled with all emotions, as this little person comes into your world. So my aim is for you to have the best possible experience. We will work together to create beautiful pictures that you will cherish forever.

 

Be assured that your baby will be in good hands as safety is always my first priority. I have worked with many babies and have undergone training to know how to handle their fragile bodies. So I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well and we get to meet your bundle of joy soon.

HOW IT WORKS

Are you ready to book? A £65 deposit is taken at the time of booking your newborn session. This amount will come off your total balance. Once the deposit is received you will be send a booking confirmation with details of your session such as date, time and address.   

At the end of your newborn photoshoot, we will arrange a viewing session where you come back to the studio within 2 weeks to view your images and choose your package and wall art.

YOUR QUESTIONS

When should I book my newborn session?
It is best to secure your date with me anytime after your 20 week scan. I will make a provisional booking for two weeks after your due date. Once your baby arrives pop me a message and we can change the date to suit you.

 

What can I expect in during the session?
When you first arrive at my brand new home studio based in Caerphilly I will great you and invite you to relax on the sofa while I make you a hot drink. During this time we can talk about your baby and you can tell me anything I need to know about your birth as well as sign some consent forms. You can look at all my props and we can decide on what you want out of the session. I normally choose between 2-3 props when your baby is wrapped then I move onto lovely natural photos of their little details. I will take the lead from your baby and never force them into poses they don’t feel comfortable with.

I absolutely love taking photos of siblings and families and it is so important to exist in photos with your children for them to remember in years to come. So the first thing I do it to take these photos first so then you can relax for the remainder of the session. I would advise that if you have siblings under 4 years old they don’t stay for the whole duration of the shoot as it can be along time. I tend to get their photos done and then either Dad or Grandparents can take them home so we can focus the rest of the time on baby.

What should I bring the the session?
  • Bring milk to feed your baby so they are nice and full before the session starts. You are welcome to feed your baby at the studio. Please bring extra milk in a bottle if not breastfeeding.
  • Dummy if they use one to make settling easier.
  • Dress your baby in something which is easy to remove.
  • A blanket to keep them warm.
  • You can bring any outfits you want to dress them in although most the photos with will be wrapped up.
  • Bring anything you want in the photo’s (special teddy, blanket, etc) and have these ready at the start of their the session.
What happens after the session?
After your newborn photoshoot you will be invited back between 7-14 days after to a viewing session. You will be shown your stunning images on my full screen projector. I appreciate how busy life is with a newborn baby so getting the date in the diary before you leave ensures you put aside time to focus on your images and make your print and product choices. Usually mum is is flood of tears during this time so bring your tissues! If you have travelled from a distant and can not make the viewing session you can request a viewing gallery via zoom instead.
